Over six full days of photography I will take you to many of my favourite locations in this wonderful National Park in the far west of Wales.

The coastline is rocky and rugged, punctuated by wonderful pale sand beaches, most notably at Marloes Sands and Broad Haven. There are also signs of faded industry, such as the extensive and fascinating quarry ruins at Porthgain and Abereidy. There are numerous attractive coastal villages, such as Solva, whose buildings are clustered around a narrow inlet.  The impressive Cathedral and ruined Bishop’s Palace at St. David’s are architectural highlights (nearby, the tiny inlet at Caerfai has extraordinary purple rocks). The walled town of Tenby and the Lower Harbour at Fishguard also present possibilities.

Inland, the landscape is one of gently rolling hills, wooded valleys and Celtic dolmens and stone circles.

I will help you to make the most of the photographic opportunities, tutoring you not only in the technical aspects, such as exposure and filtration, but also – and more importantly – helping you to see with a keener eye and guiding you to make more personal and more compelling compositions.

This tour is aimed at intermediate and advanced photographers. I am guided by the principle expressed in an ancient Chinese proverb:

“Give a man a fish you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish you feed them for life.”

So, rather than taking clients to a location and ‘showing’ them the picture, this workshop is designed to help participants’ develop their own ideas and approaches. Constructive, critique sessions are a cornerstone of this approach. I will examine participants’ images from both technical and aesthetic perspectives.  In order for this to work well I just ask that you come with an open mind.

We will aim to capture the very best of the light and the resultant photographic opportunities. The daylight hours are long in June but weather permitting, we will be up in time to shoot dawn on a couple of occasions during the week.

To further enhance the learning experience, some time will be dedicated each day to post-processing and critiquing of participants' images.
